Definitely a lot trickier than Tetris is, but totally worth the learning curve.

I've played through a couple characters' campaigns and unlocked the hidden characters, and it's a blast. And it's surprisingly deep! It's way too hard for me to figure out fully, but I really do enjoy it. Unlike my other recommendations, this game is relatively new. It's a really really fun little game.Īlso, Twinkle Star Sprites doesn't look a lot like Tetris, but it has a similar concept of risk vs reward, carefully using resources, and trying to one-up your enemy by throwing back what they throw at you. Magical Drop 2 for the SNES is a bizarre port of the game that is available on NSO and should give you a rough idea of how the game functions, but for the real experience, you should look into the ACA Neogeo port of Magical Drop 3. They're too similar to warrant buying both, but they're both fun and really weird.Īlso, check out Magical Drop. You should also check out Puyo Puyo Tetris, OR check out Puyo Puyo Tetris 2. It's a classic, and really fun, and if you already have NSO for Tetris 99, then you can play Panel de Pon for free! Good luck finding a game to occupy your mind! If you haven't played Tetris Attack it's a must play.Įdit: Somehow I missed someone else recommending it. Also, the SNES online app has the Japanese version of Tetris Attack. This one isn't very Tetris like, but I've been *really* enjoying Mini Metro. It's awesome to see Lumines brought to Switch! It's more unknown that it should be by a long shot. The bar scrolls to the beat of the music, so it's really unique in that sense. The catch though is there is a bar scrolling across the screen and pieces are only cleared when the bar scrolls over them. There are only 2 colors at a time, and you eliminate pieces by making a 2x2 of the same color. The pieces that come down are 2x2 squares composed of 1x1 pieces.

Like, playfield is basically as tall and wide as the screen minus a bit for UI stuff. Similar setup to Tetris, kind of, but WAY wider.

Tetris Effect (PS4 and Windows - Epic Games Store)ĭefinitely check out Lumines Remastered!! Why has nobody else said this yet?! It's a puzzle game from the same guy who directed Tetris Effect, but I believe it was a PSP exclusive.
